VESTOSINT® 2070

VESTOSINT® fine powders are PA12 based paint additives, available in different particle sizes. The different particle size distributions of VESTOSINT® fine powders can be used individually or in mixtures. Thus, our customers can influence the structure or matting of surfaces with ease. By integrating the polyamide particles into the paint system through functional acid end groups, outstanding improvements concerning elasticity, abrasion resistance, friction and dirt pickup can be achieved.

CSC JÄKLECHEMIE: Liquid Matting pastes

Learn more about the new matting agent pastes CSTICO®matt TS 100 and CSTICO®matt 810 SP from CSC Jäklechemie, especially suitable for water-based, clear and pigmented 1K systems as well as UV systems. The innovative matting pastes have a very narrow particle size distribution, promising excellent performance in terms of matting and surface protection. They are thixotropic, allowing them to be processed easily with low shear force despite their high solid content, but do not settle hard during storage. This means CSTICO® matt TS 100 and CSTICO® matt 810 SP can be used universally and as post-additives.

ECS 2021: Novel synthetic silica to matte powder coatings

Powder Coatings have continued to broaden its application to protect a greater range of substrates. With this expansion, more chemistries are being developed for differing substrate compositions.  These include lower temperature cure to address heat sensitive substrates and/or lower energy consumption to reduce cost.  These applications also require aesthetics that require consistent matte finishes.  Although there are several additives technologies being employed, the stringent need for greater uniformity in the final coating is still a challenge.

In this study, the paper reviews the range of available additive technologies that are currently being employed for matting powder coatings, then introduces a novel synthetic silica technology and examines its impact on matting in powder coatings. The study will look at how this influences processing of powder, usage of the novel synthetic silica, main effects on matting and other performance characteristics of the final powder coating.   The results will provide a comparable overview of how the new novel synthetic silica performs versus current available technologies.

ECS 2021: Protecting your walls – novel solutions for interior & exterior wall paints

Wall paints are a very important application within Architectural Coatings - and renewing them is quite laborious. Optimizing the resistance to damage and wear leads to more economical and sustainable paint formulations, as it makes renovation of e.g. façades with the costly installation of scaffolding redundant. One particular headache for freshly painted façades can be the formation of so called snail trails causing an uneven appearance when there is high humidity or rain. New specialty fillers help to prevent these problems and allow to formulate very long-lasting beautiful films when formulated e.g. with optimized hydrophobing agents. For interior coatings, innovative fillers also play a major role for optimization of mechanical resistance e.g., burnish phenomena - in addition, the use of suitable surface-active agents facilitates the optimization of scuff and chemical resistance. Studies of film formation help to understand and optimize both interior and exterior formulations.

Paper: Fine-tuning coating surface control through the use of modified siloxanes

Siloxane-based additives are critical tools in coating applications because their structures can be varied in order to provide a broad range of performance benefits in many types of formulations and chemistries. An attempt is made to clarify the general structure-property relationships that drive the performance attributes of siloxane additives and detail the continuum that exists between wetting, leveling, defoaming and slip within this chemistry class.
